Washing, sleeping position, swelling, crusting and shock loss — know what happens and when.
Days 1-3
Do not touch the recipient area. Sleep on your back with the head raised about 45 degrees; a travel pillow helps. Swelling around the forehead and eyes is normal and eases by day four.
Day 3: the first wash
The first wash is done at our clinic and demonstrated to you hands-on. The lotion is left on for 30 minutes, then rinsed with lukewarm, low-pressure water. You repeat this daily for ten days.
Days 4-10
Crusts form and begin to soften. Itching is normal — do not scratch with your nails; press gently with your palm instead. By the end of day ten most crusts have cleared.
Days 10-20
The area may stay pink, a little longer for fair skin. A hat is fine as long as it is not tight. Return to the gym after day fifteen.
Days 20-30: shock loss
The transplanted hairs start to shed. Do not panic — this signals the follicle entering its resting phase, not a loss. Shedding can last 6-8 weeks, followed by a quiet waiting period, and growth begins at month four.
What to avoid in this period
- Smoking and alcohol (first 15 days — they impair circulation)
- Sea and pool (first 30 days)
- Direct sun (first 3 months — wear a hat)
- Heavy exercise and sauna (first 15 days)
